We can’t forget about a Fun Fact to end an update right?

Did you know that the mound of granite that sticks out from the vast green plains of the Serengeti like a small rocky island is called Kopjes? Kopjes are said to be refuges for all kinds of life in the Serengeti. Certain animal species inhabit the Kopjes because of the Special plants that grow between the cracks in the rocks and the hiding places it offers. Pretty cool right?

That’s it for this update. Thanks so much!

Life of the Amazonia Trailer, Recruiting Playtesters, & More
over 1 year ago – Fri, Sep 30, 2022 at 04:00:05 PM

Hello Backers,

Bad Comet here today with quite a variety of exciting content😊. There’s quite a lot to go over today so without further ado, let's jump right into the updates!

1. Launch Schedule

Through our last update, we introduced our 2nd nature-themed board game, Life of the Amazonia(LOTA). We’re excited to announce today that LOTA’s launch has been confirmed for October 12th, 2022! In just a month you’ll be able to see what our team is currently working hard on. Each team member is in full-gear preparing for launch day!

For those of you interested in our upcoming project, click the ‘Notify me on launch’ button on the LOTA Kickstarter Pre-Launch page! For those of you who have yet to hit that “Notify me on launch” button, visit our pre-launch page through the link below and then proceed with the rest of the update😉. The more Backers that join us at the start of the launch, the more it’ll help us run a successful campaign!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/badcomet/life-of-the-amazonia

2. Recruiting Playtesters

For Backers who would like to experience “Life of the Amazonia” before the official release, you’re in luck! We will be conducting playtesting sessions through Tabletop Simulator(TTS). TTS is a paid software available through Steam, that lets you experience board games on your PC. There wouldn’t be anything better than inviting our Backers to our office to say hello, have a cup of coffee or a cold one on a sunny afternoon to join us for a go at our new game, but alas, we are sadly located halfway around the world for most of you as our HQ is located in Seoul, South Korea😢. So, though a bit underwhelming, we still thought a playtest get-together using TTS could still suffice!

The play-test version will be a prototype and is planned to be held from September 21st to October 11th every Monday through Thursday. Playtesting is scheduled to start each day at 19:00 Mountain Time (UTC-6) and will run for about 2 to 3 hours. This includes rule explanations, gameplay, and time for feedback. If there are more Backers who would like to participate in the playtest than we expect, we hope we can proceed with running a second round of playtests. Please keep in mind, that in order to participate in a playtesting session for “Life of the Amazonia”, Tabletop Simulator, which is a paid program available on Steam and Discord, a free social messaging platform,  must be installed beforehand. We would like to thank everyone in advance for their understanding.

Now, how do you join in on a session of playtesting? Follow the link below!

https://www.picktime.com/badcomet

  • Under “Bad Comet Playtest” You’ll see an option for “Life of the Amazonia Playtest” click the option and you’ll be directed to the dates we have available.
  • Towards the top left, you’ll see a drop-down menu to select a time zone. There you’ll be able to check what exact time the playtests are to commence in your time zone.
  •  We have dates for both September and October so please make sure to look through the dates and pick the best date that will work for you!
  • Click the session that works for you and leave your name, email address, Steam ID, and Discord ID and click “Book Appointment”
  • Once booked you should receive a confirmation email.
  • We’ll be emailing you with further details once we’ve confirmed your booking so keep an eye out!
  • Use of Tabletop Simulator and Discord is a MUST so please make sure it is downloaded and ready to go!

3. Life of the Amazonia Trailer Video

LOTA’s trailer is finally complete and we wanted to share it with our Backers! Once again, Hani and Sophia did an astonishing job with the video. I’d have to say my personal favorite part would be when the Amazon pink dolphin makes an appearance!

4. Discord Channel is Open! Take part in our Board Gamer Type Test!

We all know we love to talk (given that our cumulative number of comments for this Kickstarter campaign was 11k!)! And we know how our backers are passionate about board games.

Therefore, in order to be able to chat with our Backers a bit more and maybe make sharing amongst ourselves a bit more convenient, we opened a Bad Comet Discord channel! Click the link below and join us!

https://discord.com/invite/hr264y4gy2

To make hanging out on our Discord channel a bit more, shall we say, entertaining? We’ve prepared a Board Gamer Type Test! Find out what type of Board gamer you are through the quick questionnaire!

For reference, the “types” are as follows:

  • 🎨 Board game is my hobby
  • 📚 Collector
  • 👼 Peaceful Gamer
  • 🛣️ My way or highway

This link should take you straight to our Board Gamer Type Test. Once the results are in why not enter your “Roles” on Discord? Show off to everyone what you’re made of 😎. Not using Discord? No worries, anyone can participate in our Board Gamer Type Test to find out what kind of Gamer they are. Share with us your results through Kickstarter comments or through our Discord chat rooms!

Of course, even if you use Discord, Kickstarter comments and messages are always welcome😊. After all, this will always be our playground.

5. Wild: Serengeti Replacement

We would like to inform everyone that if you have received damaged, missing, or misprinted items and have put in a replacement order with us and have yet to receive your replacements, our fulfillment partners have notified us that due to quite a hefty backlog it will take some time until they can cover all the existing and incoming orders. Our apologies for the inconvenience and we thank you for your patience.

Replacements for the UK/EU region are no longer available. Our fulfillment partners for these regions for Wild: Serengeti, Shipquest, does not handle any replacement 3 months after fulfillment. Therefore, further replacement needs may not be available.

For all other regions, this includes: US/Canada/RoW, QML is our fulfillment partner and they have notified us that due to current operational capacity concerns they have temporarily suspended all replacement orders. They hope to resume replacements as soon as there is an improvement but they cannot guarantee a timeline at this moment.  As soon as replacements are available, we’ll be sure to notify you here!

6. Fun fact

A fun fact to end today’s news-filled update, a bit about our Vulture!

Did you know that in one sitting, vultures can eat up to 20% of their own body weight?

Makes you wonder what flying is like after one of these feasting sessions😆.

Until next time!

Introducing the New Nature-Themed Board Game “Life of the Amazonia” + Recruiting Local Captains
over 1 year ago – Sat, Sep 24, 2022 at 08:47:06 PM

Hello, everyone! Bad Comet here:)

I hope everything is well where you are! In Korea, we’ve been going through rain like no other, apparently, a 150 year old record has been broken😮. But this won’t stop us from sharing the exciting news! Today we wanted to officially announce and introduce to everyone our newest Board Game to be set in the Amazon Rainforest. Which, I’m sure most of you are aware of its existence through our name survey a few months back but here we are ready to spread the word!

1. An Introduction to the [Life of the Amazonia]

“Life of the Amazonia” is to be Bad Comet’s 2nd nature-themed board game. We decided not to use the term “sequel” to Wild: Serengeti as the game is completely different in every way except that it carries on the beautiful Animal meeples everyone loved from Wild: Serengeti.

*All images are prototype images and are subject to change

As it is a game set in the Amazon Rainforest, ‘Life of the Amazonia’ will invite you into the lush jungle of the Amazon to join in the mission of building an ecologically rich jungle. Every player will have their very own beautifully crafted jungle in front of their very eyes once the game concludes.

The main mechanics that make up the game include bag building and pattern building. This will be a game in which players will build stronger resource pouches through bag building and use the resources to build the jungle through various actions. You can restore areas, plant trees, and flowers, and discover various animals and insects. Each animal will have its own scoring conditions and the game will have you build patterns by strategically arranging various components in order to maximize scoring. For more details regarding gameplay, please refer to the Prototype Rulebook.

Prototype Rulebook: https://drive.google.com/file/d/14VfmpsOoLk2o_ex-epokRNt2IjI1kzZ3/view?usp=sharing

A total of 16 beautiful animals will appear in the base game. Our artist Sophia and Art Director Hani succeeded once again, in expressing the animals beautifully through meeples😊. Also, unlike its predecessor, Wild: Serengeti, the cards will feature stunning animal artwork for an even greater visual satisfaction. Of course, in addition to the 16 animals, we’re hoping a more diverse variety of new animals can be added through Stretch Goals by actively reflecting on your, our Backer’s, opinions😉. So please stay tuned!

The game was developed and designed by the newest member of the team, board game designer, Jamie! With Gunho, who has been in charge of designing Bad Comet’s games thus far, overseeing the game development as a Director. Gunho has mentioned that “Personally, I believe this game will my favorite game that Bad Comet has ever released”. Isn’t that exciting!? Props to Jamie😄.

Life of the Amazonia will be launching on Kickstarter just as Wild: Serengeti had, with the campaign going live this October 12th. So mark your calendars and don’t forget to come say hi!

In preparation for a hopeful successful Kickstarter campaign, we created a KS pre-launch page, so please follow the link below and click the ‘Notify me on launch’ Button to be automatically notified when the campaign begins! We’ll hope to see everyone there😊

2. Recruiting Local Captains

On to something we’re hoping to also get going this year!

Local Captains will be Bad Comet’s official partners who will help us promote and playtest the game in their local areas. Since Bad Comet is located in Seoul, it’s difficult to communicate face to face with board gamers all around the world. Therefore, we have chosen to recruit willing supporters as our Local Captains who will meet with board gamers around the world on our behalf.

The Local Captains who will be recruited this year will join us for 1 year and will receive a signed prototype copy of the “Life of the Amazonia”. Within the year, if Bad Comet has another project in the works, our Local Captains will also receive a signed prototype copy of the new game. Along with the prototype, Local Captains will receive a Bad Comet T-shirt and a business card printed with your character and name. The business cards of our team members look like the examples below and our team will be able to create a business card with a Bad Comet character to your liking.

Though most of the activities of the Local Captains will be autonomous, 1 of the following 2 activities must be selected and performed.

  1. Participate in a local game convention to promote Life of the Amazonia (necessary expenses can be provided)
  2. Conduct a “Life of the Amazonia” Playtest with 10 or more different board gamers and collect feedback.

Local Captains must choose which of the 2 activities they would like to perform. For reference, during this recruitment session, about 10 Captains will be recruited into the team with the ratios of the Captains participating in local conventions vs the captains conducting playtesting being pretty equal. In addition to the essential activities, the Local Captains will communicate closely with the Bad Comet team and autonomously conduct game promotions and playtests. At the end of the year, we plan to elect 3 Captains who have performed the most successful local activities and award special prizes!

Our hope is that supporters who truly love playing our game will join us for this adventure! Therefore, we will only be choosing Local Captains among our Backers. We hope those of you who would love to work and communicate closely with us to participate in playtesting and promoting our new project together will apply!

Application Link: https://forms.gle/b9xj7A7aMXfuSmgm8

The announcement for those chosen as our Local Captains will be individually sent out via the email provided by you through the Application link. We ask for your understanding as it may be difficult to individually contact those who have not been chosen.

3. Renaming Wild: Serengeti

It’s been exciting news so far, but we’d like to share a bit of the bad news. Last month we received quite troubling news from our lawyers. The name Wild: Serengeti was under a trademark dispute and we were told we would have to change the name Wild: Serengeti from our 2nd print and onward.

Wild: Serengeti will be titled ‘Life of the Serengeti’ moving forward. It really was upsetting news as the name was something our Backers loved and was something we took as our own for the while we built our little community. But on the bright side, we were able to name Wild: Serengeti similar to that of our upcoming project to show the unity or connection between Bad Comet’s nature game series.

With the title ‘Life of the Serengeti’, we are rapidly taking the needed trademark-related actions so we can avoid trademark-related disputes in the future.

And a fun fact to end today’s update!

Did you know that Nile crocodiles can hold their breath for up to 2 hours underwater?

Until next time!

Fulfillment COMPLETE
over 1 year ago – Mon, Aug 29, 2022 at 09:27:36 AM

Hello, Everyone😁 Bad Comet here with a quick update!

June is nearing its end and July is just inches away! And with that, I would like to say, Fulfillment has been COMPLETED! 🥳 Could we get a Woohoo!?

As many of you may know, we’ve estimated that we would be able to fulfill by July of 2022. But, the fulfillment luck was in our favor this campaign and we were able to finish fulfillment early amidst the craze of logistics, shipping fee fluctuations, and most of all with the pandemic looming about.

Now that we are fully fulfilled, I would like to take a moment and share with everyone here again about replacement inquiries. The 30-day replacement policy still stands. If you have received your products and are experiencing issues, please contact us at [email protected] (no “m” at the end).

Provide us with the following to ensure we can get replacement requests in right away.

  • A photo of the issue(if possible).
  • A quick explanation of your issue.
  • Email associated with your pledge.
  • Confirmation of the shipping address or updated address.

For everyone who has received confirmation from our team that their replacement order has been placed but has yet to receive their replacement, thank you for your patience! Our fulfillment partners are heavily backlogged at the moment and are taking about a month and a half to get the replacements out at the moment, unfortunately. But rest assured, these orders have been requested!

If for any reason you have sent us a message or an email and have yet to receive a response, our apologies! Please email us back at [email protected] . Responses from us should generally only take anywhere from 1 to 3 business days if not the day of.

We’re almost to the finish line and I’d like to give everyone on our team a pat on the back for making it through but most of all a big hug to all our supporters here! Since fulfillment, we’ve received messages, comments, and emails decorated with love and excitement, and photos full of our lovely Backers enjoying our game! We wanted to take the time to share just a few with everyone here.

Craig had an amazing shot of some of the meeples that blew us away!

Greg recorded the day the family tried out the new game!

Kenny & Kitty Kona seemed to have been up against Lee😆.

We’ve had friends of Backers who were asking where they could pledge for a copy after their first game, we’ve had parent Backers who backed our game and wanted to pledge for another to gift to their children, and customers who saw one random Hippo meeple on in their feed and ultimately lead to them wanting to pledge and try out our game😆.

Just recently, Wild: Serengeti took part in the UK Games Expo(UKGE), and though we were unable to attend in person, we had a multitude of Backers reaching out to us letting us know that our stand was booming, and attendees waiting to demo the game!

It’s a warm feeling to know that our Backers are truly one of the best and we hope you also take a bit of pride in the fact that you took part in making this project a reality! 😁

So many stories and so many ways it seems our community is spreading the game and we truly thank you.

A fun fact as always to finish off our update.

Did you know that a Leopard's eyesight in the dark is 7 times better than a human's?

No wonder they’re nocturnal hunters😬.

Until next time!

Name our Wild Series Sequel!
almost 2 years ago – Thu, Jun 30, 2022 at 12:37:07 AM

Hello! This is Bad Comet

How are all our backers?

Spring has arrived in Korea, and the weather is getting warmer, so I’m happy to say we’re all enjoying the days full of the bright warm rays.

As most of our backers have yet to receive their shipments for Wild: Serengeti, we’re a bit wary of talking about other topics, but we’re curious about your opinions, and know that this would be something many of you would love to take part in, so we thought we take the opportunity to update everyone and ask for your input.

With your help, we were able to conclude the campaign for Wild: Serengeti with huge success, and as so many of you mentioned, replied, and requested during the campaign, we decided to proceed with preparing a sequel for Wild: Serengeti. In the midst of preparing for the sequel, among other things, we encountered something of concern; “what should we title the sequel?”.

The sequel will take place in the Amazon Rainforest, as so many of you requested😊. It would be pretty straightforward for us to title it Wild: Amazonia, or the like, but unfortunately trademark issues have made the title difficult to use. Subsequent alternatives like Wild: Rainforest and Wild: Jungle, were also unavailable for use due to trademark issues as well.  Of course, as some smaller board game publishers do, there is a way to publish a game without considering trademark rights, and we are not conversing about a right and wrong way, but in hopes to run our company with what we hold to be standard with minimal risk, we decided to ponder on this issue.

Therefore, we thought it best that we asked our biggest supporters, our Backers, for their opinion as well. What do you think is the most fitting name for a sequel for the Wild series set in the Amazon Rainforest? Check out the link below to rate what we have prepared for our sequel titles. If you have an idea for an even more fitting title, please let us know in the survey as well! And to express our gratitude for contributing, we will be randomly selecting 1 of our backers who participated in the survey to send out a copy of the sequel prototype signed by the designer!

The sequel is still in development, and the exact delivery of the prototype is expected to be around June or July. The winner of the Prototype will be selected at random and will be announced through an update within the next week.

Please click the link to participate in the survey: https://forms.gle/91DRbNbbkJYCtTUe7

Fulfillment Status

We also wanted to quickly update everyone about the shipping status.

  • Delivery for Australia and New Zealand has been completed! If by chance you have yet to receive your package, please send us a message through Kickstarter!
  • For Asian Regions, shipments to China/Hong Kong/ Korea have been completed, as for the rest of the regions, shipping is in progress or has not yet started in accordance with the local Hub times. Currently, VFI cannot ship to Vietnam due to Covid. As a result, we ask for your understanding as the deliveries are still on hold. The products should be shipped as soon as the Covid restrictions in Vietnam conclude.
  • For UK backers, we have been finally informed that the products have arrived in the UK ports and have cleared customs. We were informed by our UK warehouse on April 21st that the products should arrive on the 22nd, but since then we have yet to receive a status update. If the products arrive at the fulfillment center without any issues, we suspect deliveries to begin within the next 3 weeks. We’ll be sure to let you know as we’re updated on the situation.
  • For EU backers, unfortunately, there have been some delays at port and a backlog of vessels getting unloaded, the new ETA into Hamburg is Wednesday, April 27th. We originally estimated the individual fulfillment date for May 18th, with plenty of buffers, so the estimated individual delivery date suffers no change. Although, if the shipment unloading from the ports is further delayed, the individual delivery date may be delayed as well. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on this situation once we receive further updates from Shipquest.
  • For the US and ROTW regions, as we expected, individual deliveries will begin on May 2nd! Though, shipments to Canada are expected to begin June 2nd. You should soon receive your address verification(AVS) email, so please make sure to confirm your final address there!

✅ If you have received your products and are experiencing issues with the product and/or components, such as product damage or missing components, please contact us at [email protected] (yes, there is no m at the end of our email😆)

✅ For all product damage emails, please attach a photo along with a description of your issue and the email used for your pledge for us to be able to assist in the matter at lightning speed (hopefully 😅).

✅ Replacements for damaged and/or defective products are possible within 30 days of receiving the product. Please note that after 30 days, a fee may be incurred.

That’s it for today😎. Please don’t forget to leave your input for the Survey and we hope you have an amazing rest of April!

Quick Fun Fact as always to conclude our update,

Did you know that 80% of all Wildebeest calves are born within a 3 week period?
